Liquid_Quik: 9ClubQSpade
Teahupoo: AHeart4Diamond
board: TSpade ASpade JHeart 2Club QClub
@LQ: I think this is a good fold. @Tea: I think this value bet is too thin.

Yeah, a bit too thin for sure. In my defense, I was eating dinner and watching Family Guy with my girlfriend for the first 20 minutes, however inexcusable.

4:33
6:42
LQ A8s bb
Tea: T9o btn

I really don't like the payoff here tea when he's c/r'd flop and bet every street on AJT74. Even if he's c/r all gutshots and barrelling off, it's a pretty thin call. I wouldn't expect him to keep firing with 87 or 97 on the river though, and probably not with T8 either, which makes this a fold imo, minus a read on barrelling

Agree 100%. I remember thinking at the time I should have folded on the 7 turn. When I called I felt committed to calling the river.

43:36
LQ opens QJo in mp, Tea calls in BB w/ AQo

I 3bet loose aggressives here preflop with AQo in the BB. Our hand definitely likes having the lead postflop, and LQ has shown a willingness to check turns, which can make life uncomfortable for us. I think the flop should be a c/r semibluff on JT7tt by AQo here and I'd bet all 3 streets, unless the turn or river were a 8 or 9.

Since I call 100% HU I tend to c/c showdown-able gutshots a lot, but I like your suggestion here based on who I'm against and the board. I think it works better on a board like 245 with a flushdraw where my flop calling range is generally weaker overall.

46:45
Which opens JdTh, tea 3bets QcJc

which peels Ad9x2d, calls turn 4d and tea c/f river 9x.

This whole hand is very odd to me and it feels like a lot of money is left on the table. I think first, Which's peel is fairly bad. bd fd/bd sd, but still I think you'd prefer to raise or fold flop. On the turn 4d, I think this is a definite raise if you're going to proceed. You've got to rep something here, otherwise tea is going to play close to perfect against you, and this is not an easy board to play for a reasonably wide tag 3betting range. You'll have a more profitable river bet.

Tea, I think this is a river you should barrel. If he shows down 66 with a diamond, so be it, you built quite a pot here though, and really, wtf else is he going to do but bet his entire range on the river. I think you need to prevent that and protect your pot

The river was misplayed for sure. Is there any merit to giving up on the turn? Obviously I didn't think he would peel with JT. Which had been somewhat foldy up until that point and it looked to me he was showing down. I kind of bet the turn out of not knowing what was correct and because of my confusion I botched the river.

Post on Micro Stakes Online NL: 25nl - QQ on the BTN vs 4bet

Found this thread through a poker peer.

3bet here is standard against: short stacks, loose passive, bad LAG, good LAG, and loose TAG. Against a tight-passive player, they are tight, but they are likely to call with QQ/AK/JJ OOP, so I'd 3bet them as well. Against a tight-TAG or TAG, they may 4bet or fold OOP, so stay polarized in this spot, and don't 3bet QQ/AK unless you will 5bet them. Also, an advantage of calling is that you can let weak players into the hand, plus can call/4bet over a squeeze. Against a Tight TAG they are more likely to 4bet or fold OOP and may not 4bet QQ/AK/Bluff in this spot so I wouldn't 3bet against them here. Against a TAG it's close, but because people will often call a 3bet OOP at 25NL plus this guy may actually be 4betting QQ+/AK/bluffs, a 3bet is fine here.

I like a $3 3bet here, you want him to call with QQ/JJ/TT/AK/AQ and check-fold the flop, although you can make it $3.35 if he calls more often, and a big 3bet may make him go into 4bet or fold mode. You can also 3bet bluff AJo/KQo/64s/K7s here, and a smaller 3bet size is easier to balance with that.

I guess $8-$8.50 is fine for his 4bet. If you make it too big you reduce the number of calls if you have a value hand, and put in too much money if you are bluffing. If you make it too big, you may accidentally end up being priced in if you 4bet OOP with something like AJ/KQ/77.

The guy seems kinda LAGgy enough that you can 5bet all-in here. He can have QQ/AK and maybe bluffs/JJ in his range. I wouldn't call the 4bet because he could have AK and miss, or have JJ and get scared off postflop, or randomly hit an Ace/King if he was bluffing.

The more likely he is to be a Tight-TAG or a Standard-TAG the more likely you should call, because he may play 4bet or fold OOP and may have a tight raising range and not enough QQ/AK/JJ/Bluffs in a 4bet range. A call can also be good if you want to let in some weak players behind, or induce a squeeze you can call/4bet over.

Here I'd 3bet $3 and 5bet all-in. Good luck, Yojimgari

30/20 is a very reasonable style for soft SS LHE games, IMO. Might want a slightly higher PFR, but it's not bad since you'll be defending lots of BB's. That said, Caus is pretty much right on that if your postflop play isn't solid, you need to tighten up pre. You will find yourself in much easier postflop situations this way, with strong hands less likely to be dominated. Once you get postflop sorted, you'll want to loosen back up to 30-35ish VPIP to extract maximum value from these games.

Relentless Assault is a great series where DD plays in some tough games and is forced to make some good postflop decisions as a result. The other way to get much better at postflop play is to play a lot of HUHU. You will play so many hands and be put into so many marginal spots, you will get much better much quickly. Before I started playing HUHU, I was relying way too heavily on the standard TAGfish lines - Bet flop, fire second barrel, check back river or bet flop, value check turn call river. .

Just don't play cash below 2/4 - the rake will eat you alive. Play HUSNGs if you're not currently playing 2/4 or higher. Also, remember - no money heasup, everybody's solid.

my HUSNG sucks to the core, i dont have the BR (now left with rakeback money) to play anything above 0.5/1

edit: has any one played with pokerartchee before HU LHE? i just heard from another friend that he is a FL legend pro in my country. true? no? he's the guy i'm getting help from next week.

Taking bad beats is a sign that you are playing well. When you are playing against weaker opposition, you will take far more bad beats than you will give out (Hilger, Taylor The Poker Mindset).

This is less and less true the more I think of it, and totally agree that it is more likely that they were talking about NLHE/other poker besides a showdown-happy game like SNGs. We just use the equities/blinds to dictate our push/call/fold ranges.

But I also think about "a bad beat" differently when I'm ITM than when I'm 4th-9th. Thankfully, from one session to the next, even game to game, I'll almost never remember any type of beat, but almost certainly never a bad beat when I made the money.

This is on a Rush table. 25NL Rush plays similar to 5NL-10NL non-Rush in certain ways.

I have these notes on villain, which I'll unabbreviate for you:
3-1-10 - 25NL - Raise 3bb SBvBB(me) w/$21, Pot Cbet 983t before ck/f Kt
3-5-10 - 25NL - Raise 3bb/Call 3bet w/66 SBvBB(me 3bet $2.50 w/AA) w/$27, ck/r 3.1x/Call all-in QJ6r, Kt and Tf arrives and I win. === Set mines OOP vMy slightly big 3Bet BvB. 3Bet to $2.75 over his 3bb SB open next time, value bet him big!

The notes say that I can 3bet him for thin value since he'll call too light, and big; plus that he can cbet big OOP against me on a wet flop with a weak hand/air.

In non-Rush I 4bet preflop here. But in Rush people are more tight-passive, and I don't have stats on this villain yet, so I am unsure what to do here. I often only 4bet KK+ and bluffs in this spot. I plan to call here and check-raise all-in on many flops, or sometimes check-call with a pair. Should I 4bet, and if so, to what size?

I'm behind straights, sets, two pairs, and AA on this flop, but tie AK. I beat some Kings and Aces and Jacks and 98s here though, plus his pairs weaker than mine and air. I'm confused here and am not sure if I should lead, also because I don't know how to handle a raise. I decide to check-evaluate here. Should I bet, if so, what size? As played, should I raise his bet, if so, what size?

The turn is weird for me. Should I bet, if so, what size? As played, should I shove? Thanks, Yojimgari

Post on Beginner Limit Hold'em: rake at ipoker vs. full tilt.....

Yes it's how the rake is taken.

At Full tilt at 2/4 the rake is essentially taken in $1 pieces up to the $3 maxiumum at $60 (FWIW I'm pretty sure Stars is better here with a $70 pot needed for $3 rake and it needing to be 6 people playing not 5-6 but whatever)

At Ipoker it's a flat 5% rake. So the only time the rake structures are equal is if the pot is exactly $20, $40 or $60+. In every other case Ipoker will rake more than Full Tilt.

Assuming 6-handed game:

$16 pot. Ipoker rakes 80c, Full Tilt Rakes nothing.

$32 pot. IPoker rakes $1.60, Full Tilt Rakes $1.

$48 pot. Ipoker rakes $2.40, Full Title Rakes $2.

This change means IPoker are pretty much always making more rake. especailly in the smaller pots (Raise/Call/Bet Fold style).

super Short it's slightly different at FT starts raking in 50c increments rather than $1 increments but it's still better that Ipoker. Bascially Flat % rates are pretty much the worst way for the player to be paying rake. Stars and Full Tilt both have "Step" structures and they're better for the player.

I'd also post sample size, call open, and 3bet stats for your next hand, although it's not applicable in this hand. Aggression frequency is better than aggression factor.

$6.50-$7 is good preflop. If your sample is big then make it $7, and keep increasing the size if he keeps calling and then folding the flop/turn and paying off, and you should also 3bet him for thin value(99) as well and no bluffs(76s/A5s/KTo). If you get 4bet then I'd fold, although I haven't done the math on this yet, but villain is too LAP to probably 4bet JJ/QQ/AK.

You can't check-raise all-in here because he'll check behind with too much stuff and may go all-in with a 9 or TT and you can get value/protection from a lot of hands. The SPR is 2.3. Bet $11, he'll call more with stuff. Snap call the shove. Good luck, Yojimgari

Villian is 43/9/1.9 passive fish. Since he 3-bet-calls 83% i thought 3-betting here is for value, especially OOP. On the button he open raises/steels with 14%. The flop comes very drawy... and I have no reads about aggressive draw play from him yet.

NL Holdem $0.50(BB) Replayer
Hero ($53.62)
BB ($50)
UTG ($49.25)
UTG+1 ($92.47)
CO ($96.12)
BTN ($38.09)

Dealt to Hero Q Q

fold, fold, CO calls $0.50, BTN raises to $2, Hero raises to $6.50, fold, fold, BTN calls $4.50

FLOP ($14) J 7 9

Hero bets $9, BTN raises to $31.59 (AI), Hero ?

Looks like villain is TAG, loose TAG, good LAG, or bad LAG, can't tell much else. What does the phrase "bet big every time I've taken 2 hands off him with a turn raise so far" mean?

You don't necessarily need to call preflop, it will depend on what the other blinds are like. As default I fold but I think most everybody else set mines, but I don't think it's as profitable as people think. Although on certain tables I will call depending on stats, reads, images, positions, stack sizes, and action ahead. When my skill level increases so will the number of hands I call with. Something like QJs is different though here, because you can float flops with that hand, and pick up draws on the turn and stuff. You can't do much with 33 postflop unless you hit a set, or there is a dry board with a Q/K/A that you want to bluff float. If people 3bet behind you then you can't call or 4bet light, and if somebody calls then your float potential on the flop is destroyed so you need a set or OESD when the flop hits to continue.

Raise bigger on the flop for value/protection to 80% pot of $5.25, maybe a little more, and the same amount with bluffs here since he may be a decent player and you want to use unexploitable bet sizing against him. You want to get a good amount of money out of 66/22/an Ace/65s/54s/TT+ so you should raise bigger.

Here's a possible range for villain to continue with on the turn, although some of these hands he may fold preflop, or 3bet the flop with, or fold on the flop:
TT+,66-44,22,A2s+,76s,65s,54s,AJo+

The 2 is an absolute atrocious card for you here. You can't get any better hand to fold with a turn bet unless he has 55/44/54s somehow. You can't get two streets out of 22, plus KK-TT/54s will fold. Check here.

Just fold on the river, he's not betting KK-TT/54s/22 here. Your equity is literally 1% here when he bets. You need 30% equity to call, and 30%+ of his range is not KK-TT/54s/22, those hands make up 1% or less of his range. Good luck, Yojimgari

my villian is 36/30 after 74 hands . he has a tendancy to bet big everytime i've taken 2 hands off him with a turn raise so far.
I've seen villian check raise once or twice as well I feel once i raise the flop the only hands that are gonna call me are a pocket pair higher than board or a straight draw. the straight definitely got there on the turn. it kinda froze me. on the river should i be calling or folding is my answer. i really see no need to raise river.
what are your thoughts about this hand?
thanks in advance

Full Tilt Poker $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em - 5 players - View hand 588291
The Official DeucesCracked.com Hand History Converter

BTN: $8.40
SB: $33.96
BB: $43.61
UTG: $25.00
Hero (CO): $66.63

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is CO with 3 3
UTG raises to $0.85, Hero calls $0.85, 3 folds

Flop: ($2.05) 4 5 3 (2 players)
UTG bets $1.50, Hero raises to $4.20, UTG calls $2.70

Turn: ($10.45) 2 (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero checks

River: ($10.45) 9 (2 players)
UTG bets $7.75, Hero requests TIME, Hero ?
